Dear Big Creek Family,
One of the goals of the Big Creek PTO is to fundraise for needs that have not been provided for the school through the County Funds received each year. Schools are funded based on the number of full time students. For each full time student, the school receives approximately $7597.00 per student. We have worked with our principal, Mrs. Webb, to set fundraising goals for the 2017-2018 school year. As you have seen, there is also tremendous amount of growth in Forsyth County which has caused the need for brand new schools. As new schools get built and funds are allocated to the needs of a growing community, other needs get pushed down on the "To Do" list.
Fortunately, we are part of a team dedicated to keeping Big Creek one of the top schools in the district. To do that, we are working with Mrs. Webb to provide and additional $25,000 in funds to continue to update our library into a 21st century media center this year. PTO also provides teacher grants, teacher perks, technology needs such as Chromebooks and iPads, additional curriculum, spirit wear, engaging family events, yearbook, Teacher training and so much more. PTO updates the budget at General PTO meetings, which everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. The budget is complete with expenditures if you ever wonder where exactly all that money goes. We value your suggestions and donations. We couldn't do this without you.
This year we will have 2 fundraisers. In the fall there will be the Wildcat Pride Fundraiser where families will have three different sponsorship levels (and prize packages) to help the school. In the spring we will hold the Read-a-Thon for a second time.
Overall, we hope to raise $50,000 this year at Big Creek.
